Before Abraham moved from Babylon to Egypt and even in Egypt, Hebrews were the peasants of their culture. Because of their oppression from the Egyptians, when they became independent after possibly burning the upper-class area of a Canaanite city, they became Egalitarian and refused to have a king. They had in equal society with no sociotechnical artifacts: there was no place for things that did not serve a purpose. All the pottery and tools were simple, useful, and without decoration.
