After the United kingdom of Israel was divided, the territories of the tribes Simon, Judah, and Benjamin came together to form the kingdom of Judah. Jerusalem was the capital of Judah. Judah remained an independent kingdom until the fall of Jerusalem in 586 B.C.E..
