Mythology is regarded now as an incorrect view of facts, but it often contains great truths. During the Neolithic era, people considered these myths to be facts, although now we know they are not. generally speaking myths teach a lesson or explain the natural world. They teach the values of the culture--good is rewarded, evil is punished and so forth. The need for myth is a universal need because it told people who they were and the right way to live. Myth was and still is the basis of morality, governments, and national identity.
