2. Toynbee: Challenge and Response

Arnold joseph Toynbee, a British historian, Who's 12 volume analysis of the rise and the fall of civilizations called "An Historians Guide to Religion", this was by far his most popular and well known work. (1934-1961). Toynbee was known for his his study of the rise and falling of civilizations. In his book he describes the rise and the fall of more than 23 civilizations. Toynbee's main interest was in the repetition of history. Toynbee believed the that all civilizations are eventually faced with a challenge, and that how they deal with the problem will determine the outcome.
