*History 8 Mesopotamia Vocabulary

Nebuchandnezzar: Was a great ruler in the sense that he did not let anyone take over his land. In fact, he conquered land while on the throne of Babylon from 605-562 BC. He conquered Judah and captured both kings (in succession) Jehoiachin and Zedekiah. He forced tons of Jews to relocate to Babylon, making the population very diverse. Nebuchandnezzar rebuilt Babylon so that it was very large and successful.

Zedekiah: Was the king of Judah that was captured by Nebuchandnezzar. His capture, along with Jehoiachin's, is what caused the fall of Judah and the beginning of the Exile.
