A prepared core is a section of stone that has been shaped to easily produce blades. The core is usually made of chert, flint or obsidian. The Levalloisis technique uses a prepared core and then chips away at it to form a blade. This technique allows greater control over size, shape and flake size of the tool. This helped to make axes and spears that displays that our human ancestors had begun to imagine how to start making new and helpful tools to make themselves survive.
