Return to History 8 Historiography Manual Assignments

The first reason history is important is it provides us with information and data from past people and cultures that can help us understand why and how people have become the way they are. History gives us evidence to figure out more about human beings and how we function. To understand how we act, we need to understand history and the history of the human species. From history people learn not only about things from long ago but about everything that makes us human. Information about extinct cultures can also teach us about the human species. Past cultures can tell us about our present, show us the difference between the past and the present, and how our culture has evolved. History is an assimilation of information about the past and people of the past that we can learn from.
