At the end of the Stone Age, a green rock called malachite was mined to produce a newly-discovered metal: copper. Copper had a big impact on the early people's way of life and transformed the way they cooked, hunted, and lived. The early humans would chip green malachite off of large boulders and stones using sharp, pointed tools. Green malachite was very valuable and became a major trading good because many people wanted to produce copper.
