Return to History 8 Human Origins Vocabulary
Bipedalism means "2 feet". Bipedalism helps with multiple things, hunting, survival, body regulation, and reproduction. It helps with hunting because it lets us become taller to look over high grass, which leads to helping our survival because we can get food easier. It also makes things easier to reproduce and keep the babies because the males can carry the babies as they travel from place to place, and not lose them because they cannot walk. It also has disadvantages. One disadvantage is when you become taller, you can be seen easier, which causes you to be hunted, and the Homo Erectus and the Homo Habilis were not predators. It also controls body regulation so that we can be less hot in the hot Africa's heat.
