"Throughout global history people have moved from place to place, traded goods and services, and as a result, traded ideas. This movement of people and goods can be traced back to prehistoric cultures and still occurs today." When customs from different cultures are moved from place to place, it is called cultural movement. This movement can effect more than just peoples original customs, it can effect their pallets, their clothing, their way of building shelter, their way of worshipping or not worshipping a god or gods, and much more. "The movement of people, goods and ideas between places means that events in other places can have an effect beyond the local level. Transportation routes, communication systems, trade connections, emigrations and war link people and places throughout the world. Products, ideas, and information are sent around the globe, either slowly by ground, sea, and air transport", and more recently "almost instantaneously by electronics." When these ideas and customs are spread around the globe from a certain place to another, "sometimes these characteristics are accepted in the new location, and the culture is changed by the linkage." This is called cultural hybridity. An example of cultural hybridity would be foreign restaurants, in Texas there were many Mexican immigrants. They brought their customs, ideas, and food to Texas, making a fusion of food called Tex-Mex, also common in Texas are Asian-fusion restaurants. Movement has in the past and continues to affect culture and customs and develop them further making each country, state, or city more cultured.
