A mudhif house is a type of house found in the marshes of Southern Iraq, made of reeds. To make a mudhif house, long reeds are tied together, and curved to make large archways. Then, mats are placed over the reeds, forming a roof. The walls are formed from lattice panels, allowing both sunlight and airflow inside the house. The design of a mudhif house also follows local traditions. One of the ways the house does this is by having the same amount of pillars on each side of the hut, and an odd number, so that the leader of meetings can have an equal amount of people on both sides.
