A primary source is an object such as an diaries, letters, and clothing that were written or created during the time under study. These sources serve as material to interpret the past and provide the resources necessary for historical research. They offer a view of a particular event and provide historians with facts to work with. Primary sources can become evidence once applied to a question. You can ask basic questions such as: Who wrote it or made it? Or you could ask, When and Where was it written and made? These questions will provide you with basic information that you can use to find more in depth evidence from the primary source. Then, and secondary source uses the evidence from the primary source to figure out information about the past.
