Khufu, the son of Senufru, was the second Pharaoh of the Forth dynasty of Egypt. He ruled Circum 25 centuries before Christ. He demanded the construction of his tomb, The Great Pyramid of Giza. This magnificent monumental structure consists of about 2.4 million stones, with individual ones averaging about 2 and half tons each. Each one was transported up to 500 miles to arrive at the worksite. The construction of this magnificent necropolis is thought to have taken up or around twenty years, with a labor force 300,000 strong. All of this great work force was overseen by Khufu’s nephew Hemiunu, who may have been the architect of this spectacular structure. The whereabouts of Khufu’s mummified remains are unknown do to the fact that he died about 2566 BCE and tomb robbers got to him before we did.
