8. herbivores
Return to History 8 Human Origins Vocabulary
Herbivores are animals who's diet consist specifically of plants. Herbivores are found all over the world and can range from small bugs to African elephants. They are primary consumers and play a major part in the food web. Most herbivores have large, dull teeth so they can consume the rough vegetation. Some herbivores, such as elephants, must eat a lot of vegetation because plant material is hard for them to digest.
