Back to *History 8 Neolithic Revolution Vocabulary

A cultural template is the outline for any given culture. It has "predictable form and content" and it "[shapes] behavior and consciousness within a society from generation to generation." A cultural template is different for every culture, because it is the structure that that culture is built on.

An example of a cultural template would be language. "Language is transmitted culturally; that is, it is learned," Therefore, language is a cultural template, because it acts as a structure for that culture from generation to generation.
