Back to History 8 India Manual questions

Aryans are the nomadic tribal peoples who's origin is somewhat unknown. They are known to come from Euro-Asia north of present day India. These people were prepared for battle and very tough. Their religion was very different than any previous Indus culture, and was dominated by a storm-god. They were very focused on warfare. The Aryans spoke Sanskrit,a now-scarcely-used language that is sacred to Hindus and Buddhists.

The Aryans are known to have invaded the Indus Civilization during its downfall. They mostly lived in the Ganges floodplains, with more predictable and less violent floods.

The Aryans adopten almost no Harappan Culture, religions, or ideas. They never built full settlements, and settled in a tribal fashion. The religion of the Aryans revolved around the Rig Veda, a large collection of orally passed hymn-like chanted prayers. Ultimately, the Rig Veda evolved into a more complex system of beliefs, including the epics "Mahabarata" and "Ramayana". The Aryans began Hinduism.
