Ay

Ay was a Pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty. He ruled for a short period of four years. Information and monuments about him are very rare to find for two reasons. One, he only ruled for four years which did not leave much time for building and writing. Two, hissuccessor, Horemheb, abolished his ideas of the sun god Aten. He is the son of Yuya and father of Nefertiti.

Horemheb

Horemheb was the very last Pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty and reigned for fourteen years. He was not directly related to the royal family, but was believed to have had common birth. Before he was pharaoh, Horemheb was the commander in chief of the army under the reigns of Tutankamun and Ay, and held very high powerin Egyptian society. Horemheb ridded Egyptians of the idea of the sun god Aten, and used leftover worship centers and statues for his own monuments and statues. Horemheb could not provide and heir and had a successor by the name of Ramesses I.
