Back to History 8 India Manual questions

The Eightfold Path is the set of steps that you have to take to attain enlightenment according to the teachings of Buddhism. It was introduced by the Buddha in his first sermon and he used it to reach the truth of life.

Step 5: Right Livelihood

The Buddha says that a persons wealth should be attained in a peaceful and legal manner. There are four main ways that you should not attain wealth: dealing in weapons, dealing in living things, working in meat production and butchery, and selling intoxicants (alcohol, drugs). One must also fulfill your duties in life.

Step 6: Right Effort

One must use their effort for pure and peaceful things. The same energy that can be used for evil, unkindness, or sins can be used to generate kindness and peacefulness. One should always use their effort and energy to be the best possible person that they can be.
