History 8 China Vocabulary A dynasty is a sequence of rulers from the same powerful group or family. Dynasties played a very importsnt role in the polotics and history of China. The first dynasty of China was the Xia Dynasty, followed by the Shang, the Zhou and others. Each dynasty had different values and characteristics.
