Factors That Regulate Climate

Abu Dhabi is on the Persian Gulf, which is the area of the UAE with the maximum temperature(MAX Temp.:118 degrees F- 48 Degrees C). The Coastline has the biggest effect on the country making it generally hot and dry.Away from the coastline, UAE gets cooler with increasing Altitude, but even in the winter it is never below freezing. The Al Hajar Arghabi Mountains have a cooler temperature because of their high altitude, but are rural to the city.Otther than that there are some hills, and the rest is desert, and even then it's all desert for about a hundred miles until the Arghabi mountains. Because of the dry, windy, and sandy coast, with a lack of vegetation, UAE occasionally has dust storms, which severely limit visibility. So Abu DHAbi is generaly very hot, deserty, and flat.[1]

Air Pressure: The influences on the atmospheric pressure sytems in Abu Dhabi are the Siberian Anticyclone(area of high pressure)in the winter and in summer the Asiatic low over south- central Asia.

Winds:

Abu Dhabi's prevailing winds are mostly from the north-west. This reduces the humidity in Abu Dhabi because it blows the water vapor from the Persian Gulf away from the city.[1]

Not Similar City

Earth Science 7Moscow, Russia

Moscow, Russia:

Climate zone: Dfb- Humid Continental.

Differences: Moscow has severe winters, no dry season, and warm summers. Unlike Abu Dhabi, most of the time Moscow is very cold. Abu Dhabi is hot and dry, mostly. Also Moscow is very humid, is sub-arctic, and has very low air pressure. Abu Dhabi has high air pressure, and is extremely dry.

Geology

Tectonic Plate Boundary Near Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi lies on the Arabian Plate, and is around 1,200 kilometers from the nearest plate boundary.

Rocks that Underlie Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi lies on a downward slope between the basement of the Arabian Peninsula and the mountains of Oman's Musandam Peninsula. To the north it lies on a sedimentary basin in the Zagros Mountain Front. In the territorial Front of Abu Dhabi there are only a few very old rocks. Some wells drilled have penetrated Permian and Pre-Permian clastic rocks. Abu Dhabi mainly underlies salt, though, mostly offshore.
