Geography

The Dead sea is on the border of Jordan and Israel, and the Mediterranean Sea is on the other side of Israel [1]

Most of Jordan is plateau between 700 and 1,000 meters. Amman is at about 1,000 meters. Amman also contains nineteen big hills.

Amman, Jordan is in the Mid-latitude Steppe (BSk) according to the Koppen Classification system.

Amman has a cold ocean current to its left (Canary Current) and a warm ocean current to its right( South Equatorial).

The vegetation includes small trees, shrubs, flowering plants, and succulents. Thyme, lavender, and sage also grow in the arid climate of Amman.

Pressure

Jordan is a low pressure zone. The low pressure zone pulls hot dry and air from the desert. Jordan has a semi-dry summer and relatively cold winter. The summer and winter are long, the fall and spring are short.

Plate and Plate Boundary

Amman, Jordan is on the Arabian Plate and is 334.92 kilometers (208.11 miles) away from the African/Arabian plate boundary. The African/Arabian plate boundary is a transform boundary. [1]

Geology

Amman, Jordan lies on top of sedimentary rock. The reason for the sedimentary rock is the nearby Dead Sea. The Dead Sea was probably, in prehistoric times, much larger. The sediments on the ocean floor would have gotten compacted into sedimentary rocks and would have been left there as the sea dried up. Commmon rocks in the upper part of the land include marl, clay, and evaporites. In the lower part of the land conglomerate, sand, and gravel are common. [2]
