Climate Regulating Factors

Sydney is close to 35 degrees S latitude, in the mid-latitudes in a predominantly high pressure zone. It is located at a low elevation and very close to the Pacific Ocean so the weather is not very extreme. The topography is mostly hilly. Prevailing winds come from between north-west and south-west which is partly responsible for the dry climate.
