Factors That Regulate Climate
Houston is close to 30 degrees N latitude, in the mid latitudes high pressure area. Its topgraphy is rough, with the Mediterranean Sea directly North. It has mild humidity all year, thanks to its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. The prevailing winds come from the N, and E, thanks to the Mediterranean Sea to the North. Winters are mild due to the warming effect of the Mediterranean Sea , and it has relativley no rain most of the year.
Geology
Tectonic Plate Boundary Near Tripoli
Tripoli is located on the African Plate roughly 90 miles to the North. The boundary to the north is a divergant boundary.
Rocks that Underlie Tripoli
Below Tripoli, you would find many layers of sand, clay, granite, and many other things. If you were to dig under Tripoli, you would find many things. One is aquifers, or underground deposits of sand and rock that also contain water. Also large deposits of oil can be found underneath Tripoli. The aquifers are formed when water goes down through holes and pores in the rocks until the water reaches an impermeable layer of rock. The water is stored underground in a place of just water and no air. The clay is formed from the water going into the ground and it moistening it. They sand is found in the deserts in Lybia. The granite is found in the path of water to the aquifers.
