Factors That Regulate Climate

The climate in Dakar, Senegal is affected very much by it's topography and location. It's topography effects it because it is located on the coast, which means that the air pressure there is low. Because the city is located in the 20° latitudes, it is affected only a little by the doldrums or the horse latitudes, and it's climate is very tropical because it is somewhat near the equator. The ocean current nearest to it is a warm, salty surface current called the Canary Current. The vegetation near Dakar is very diverse with tropical rain forest and forest savannah.

Rocks Under Dakar

Dakar is mainly made up of sedimentary rock. This is because it is near the ocean, so ocean sediments can form the rock on land.
