3D Monster Maze. Monster with Ringmaster [1]

Introduction

3D Monster Maze is a game in which the player character is dropped into a labyrinth with the one goal of escape. However the player must avoid a very goofy looking TRex in order to survive. Monster Maze was the first game for a home computer to feature real '3D' graphics. The three dimensional view used in this game is merely through the use of an optical illusion. Objects farther away are made smaller in comparison to objects that are closer, thus creating a sense of perspective. This game was released for the Sinclair ZX81 home computer in 1982.

Significance

3D Monster Maze was significant because of how it was the first game to use 3D graphics, paving the way for later titles. Despite its simple game design, it still managed to create a sense of horror (mostly from the fact that the T-Rex would slowly make its way to you and the game would tell you when it was closer), and it is also venerated as the first game in the survival horror genre. Try the game out for yourself here! [2]
