Iron Age II government Israel

The government of Israel took many forms during the Iron Age II. First, King David ruled the Jews. David is most well known because of the famous tale of David and Goliath. The Books of Samuel, 1 Kings, and 1 Chronicles are the only sources of information on David. David was chosen by god, and as king he brought forth nation-states in the southern Levant. Then, Davids son King Solomon united the people of Israel with their beliefs. The people of Israel did not doubt King Solomon because he could supposedly speak with the gods. Solomon and David coreigned for 3 years. The kingdom of Israel under David and Solomon is the best known example of the "new states" of the Iron II period. -Brendan Amos
