Founding

Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg was a sophomore at Harvard University when he founded the site. The site’s domain was originally thefacebook.com, but then it was shortened to Facebook.com.

Registration

At first, registration was only limited to Harvard students, but then expanded to other colleges, then high schools, then finally, people age 13 or older. Registration is made simple on Facebook. All you need is a valid email, a valid username and you’re basically done. Then you, are ready to socialize with other people. If you enter what high school, college, or company you are in, then you can find other people in these groups. The website currently has more than 500 million active users worldwide and more than 900 million objects to interact with, making it the most popular social networking site in the world.
