Windows 7

Windows 7 is the newest opperating system created by Microsoft. It is quite similar to Windows Vista, and is internally known as Windows 6.1 (Vista was 6). Microsoft fixed many of the problems that plagued Vista, including making it possible for the user to disable UAC and reducing memory usage. Also, the parts of the GUI (especially the taskbar) were redigned to be more finger-friendly and diferentiate Windows 7 from other versions of Windows. Windows 7 retains the Windows Aero theme that Vista introduced, along with the WDDM driver model.

Device Stage

Device Stage is a stage in Windows 7 that when you plug in a device (example: a phone)and a window pops up in your task bar specifically for that device. You can buy accsecories, change settings or even contact the companies. This works with almost any device.

Touch

For touch you need a touch enabled computer like the [HP Touchsmart] or a slate PC like the upcoming HP Slate. You are able to perform everyday tasks using touch rather than a mouse and a keyboard.


Taskbar

The taskbar is the UI element at the bottom of the screen. It contains the Start Orb, the running programs, pinned programs, the clock, and notification icons in Windows 7. In Windows 7, by default, the taskbar very different, although the user can configure it to be more similar to the Windows Vista task bar. The taskbar countains the Start Orb that was introduced in Vista, a new, less intrusive notification icon bar,


Web Slices

Web slices are used for online auctions, stock quotes, or anything online that constantly updates. When you get to the site a web slice icon pop up and hovers over the item (or anything else). If you add it then you get a web slice at the tob of your screen.


Accelerators

• Used for maps, looking up someone on Facebook (if you download it), translate, and looking up a word. • To map highlight the address and a menu will pop up. Select the map tool. It will then give you a map • The rest are the same as the map but selecting different tools.
