World Wide Web
A system of interlinked hypertext documents, accessed by the internet. It is also a branch of the internet. It normally begins either by typing the URL of the page into a web browser, or by following a hyperlink to that page or resource. The idea of the World Wide Web was first proposed by Tim Berners- Lee in march of 1989 and was soon joined by Robert Cailliau, a systems engineer. Together the two created the first web page, http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html. The next year research on a universal line mode browser that allowed any kind of computer or server to access the interne begant. In February 1993 the University of Illinois realeased the first web browser for people using pc's and apple macintoshes. By October of 1993 there were over 200 known internet servers and it has yet to stop growing [2].
