Drive

A drive is an electromagnetic device that "reads" or "writes" information onto a storage device. Drives were introduced in 1956 on a IBM (International Business Machine) computer. The parts of a drive are the platters (the disks that store the information), the spindle and spindle motor(turns the discs in unison), the read and write heads(they read and write data onto the storage device), and the head actuator(turns the heads around on the platter.)
