The Minoan civilization was located on Crete, which was an island that was isolated from mainland. Since it was so isolated, it had limited resources, but it did have very nice climate and fertile soil to grow crops.

To make the most of its economy, the Minoans built the first major navy, that was completely focused on trade. With its advanced ships, the Minoans became the main exporter of wines, oils, jewelry, and crafted works. Even though they had to import raw materials and food due to their lack of many resources, the Minoans still built an economy out of their limited resources.
