CPU(Central Processing Unit)
1."The brains of a computer". The processor. Made up of control unit and *1 ALU. Usually contained on a single chip nowadays. The CPU contains all of the instructions which the computer will need.
2. Sometimes used by some professionals and salespeople to refer to entire computer as CPU, in which case it includes processor, *2 RAM, and *3 I/O architecture.
- 1. Arithmetic Logic Unit. Does the calculation. *2. Random Access Memory. A type of memory that provides direct access to any bytes. *3 Input/Output. Reads and Writes disks.
