GarageBand

GarageBand is a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) that takes different layers of audio and overlaps them. The music has playback that plays the music together. The program divides the audio into instruments, and then into sub-sections from that. You drag the audio onto the screen and select where it goes. Built-in audio programs allow the audio track to be changed for recording instruments. The program is a way to make music with or without instruments. You can also download clips to GarageBand by paying money. The bought clips tend to have more variety and are a little bit longer then origonals.


History

Created by Apple inc. in 2004. The application was announced during Steve Jobs’ keynote speech at the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco. Garageband2 was released in 2005. Garageband3, with an added a movie track for film scoring, in '06 and Garageband4 in '08.
