File

A file is a resource that is used for storing information using a computer program. It is usually used for durable storage. This means that it’s available for use after the program being used is closed. Computer files are usually thought of as a modern way of storing paper documents. These documents would normally be stored in a library, office, or file cabinets. (This is where the idea for the computer file came from). On computers, the word folders are also used when referring to computer files and the computer programs often make the files look like folders.\
