iTunes

iTunes is a digital media player application introduced by Apple Inc. in 2001. The free application, available for Mac and Windows, is used for playing and organizing digital music and video files.


History

iTunes was first developed by Jeff Robbin and Bill Kincaid in 1999. It was bought by Apple inc. in 2000. Apple added a new user interface and the ability to burn CDs, then intrduced it as iTunes. In the fourth major update of iTunes, released in August 2003, the iTunes Store was unveiled. Then called the iTunes Music Store, it allows any user to buy and download music to their computer and multiple iPods. Recently, as Apple has expanded their media products to include movies, podcasts, and more, the iTunes (formerly Music) Store has become a store where any type of digital media can be bought.


Features

iTunes is an application that allows the user to manage audio and video on a personal computer. Users can organize their music files in their library,record Compact Discs, purchase music and videos through its built-in music store.
