Computer 7-5
A processor (CPU) is the brain of a computer. It interprets and carries out instructions given to the computer. Processors have been used since the early 1960’s. Processors are made of thousands of transistors. Each transistor has a set of inputs and outputs. When the inputs receive electricity, the combined charge changes the transistor internally and you get a result out the other side. This effect of the transistor is what makes it possible for the computer to count and perform logical operations.
