The Shang Dynasty was a period from 1766 to 1027 BCE. The Shang Dynasty extended throughout northern and central China, and its capital was at Anyang. It was founded on agriculture; its society was aristocratic, and religion followed Shang Ti, the Lord on High. The writing system was one of the most important aspects of the Shang Dynasty, and the Oracle Bones (Dragon Bones) are attributed to scribes from this period. In addition, bronze working became prominent during this period.[1]
