This article's wording in the "Significance" section is moderately confusing and hard for the reader to follow. A rewording would be nice to have, as the significance is muddled by a not-so-crystal-clear explanation. However, the article does explain how binary is used, numerically, yet not why it is necessary to have only two different choices for machines/computers. The importance of having only a 0 or a 1 is that because the signals are differences in the current, it is most simple to have only one threshold for the signal to cross.
