History 8 China Vocabulary

The Tao is not a definite object; it is more like a way or a path. The Tao incorporates many ideas into one word. These concepts include: the source of creation, the ultimate, the inexpressible, the unnameable, the natural universe as a whole, and the way of nature as a whole. The search for the right path or way is the second great stream of Chinese thought. This search is known as Taoism. Taoism came to be seen as the half of the necessary balance in life.
