The Quran serves as the central Holy book and scripture in Islam. The original arabic text is believed by Muslims to be the final revelation of God or Allah. The Quran is the compilation of twenty three years of visions in which Muhammad was shown by Gabriel the true will of god. Though Muhammad himself did not write the book, it is believed to have been memorized orally and written down by Muhammad's followers after his death. Many of the most devout Muslims learned the entire Quran by heart. The Quran tells of all the miracles of Muhammad's life, and to Muslims it is proof of his prophethood.
