WHI-Chap18-Yuan Dynasty

The Yuan Dynasty was established by Khubilai Khan in 1279. Khubilai outlaws intermarriage between Mongols and Chinese, bans the Chinese from learning the Mongol language, and put foreign administrators in place. Though he ended the Confucian exams, he was known as a ruler who was very tolerant of all cultural and religious traditions. It lasted long after Khubilai's death, finally collapsing in 1368.
