San Pedro Sula, is an urban-type city, located in the North East corner of the Nation, Honduras.

Latitude: 15.5 Longitude: 88.0 Located near the Caymen Islands, a popular tourist location right off the Gulf of Mexico, and the lower part of the North Pacific Ocean, San Pedro Sula culture has much to do with the Ocean.

History

Founded in June 27, 1536 by Pedro de Alvarado, San Pedro Sula has a rich history. Originally the San Pedro Sula area was a marsh and swampland. Gold found nearby was stamped into coins to create the nations currency. After the original location of San Pedro Sula was attacked by French, English, and Dutch pirates, the city was moved to where it is, a much more strategically safe place. Prefering the dry, highlands of other parts of Honduras, San Pedro Sula did not get many new settlers. However, over time, San Pedro Sula snowballed into a very well populated place, and was officially recognized by the Congress of Honduras as a city.\

Tourism

Being close to other major cities in Honduras, and having wonderful hotels, San Pedro Sula can serve as a place to stay, even when your travels don't center in the city itself.

Tourist attractions

Several museums can be found in Honduras such as Museo de Antropología y Historia, Museo de la Naturaleza, Planetario Infantil. These museums have several ways for English speaking visitors to enjoy their museums.

Museo de Antropología y Historia holds a vast archeological and historical collection, which lawfully belongs to the people of Honduras, but is yours to enjoy too! The ground floor, showcases a vast History archive of Honduras and specifically San Pedro Sula. The upper floor houses many exhibit on the archeological history of the Vally that San Pedro Sula is located in. The museum, directed by Teresa de Pastor, holds a vast library for those wishing to learn even more about the cities history.

The second museam, Museo de la Naturaleza, is dedicated the the plants and other flowers in San Pedro Sula. The museums exhibits showcase a vast collection of insect, bugs, fora, fana, aswell as a library of books about animal life in the city. Any bug lover visiting San Pedro Sula would feel right at home at Museo de la Naturaleza.

The cities Asronomy Museam is Planetario Infantil. Showing a beautiful view of the night sky of San Pedro Sula, Planetario Infantil is also a great place to visit for information about the solar system and space?

Among the many locations to shop in San Pedro Sula, are Galerías del Valle, City Mall, Mall Multiplaza, and Mall Megaplaza. The locations all have at least one food court. Several places to buy cloths, toys, gift shops, coffee shops, and kiosks. \
