King David, and according to the Bible, an ancestor of Jesus, was the second king of Israel and a great one. David greatest conquest was defeating the Philistines. He then united the states of Israel and Judah to rule over all the Israelites for the first time in history. He was then able to extend the size of the kingdom due to his powerful army that he ruled. He captured Jerusalem and he proclaimed it as his political and religious capital. [[1]]
