History 8 Near East Vocabulary

King Solomon was King David's son. King David increased the size of the kingdom greatly because of the great army he commanded and Solomon took over and ruled the united and wealthy kingdom.

King Solomon was known for wisdom, wealth, and writings. He became ruler in about 967 BCE. His major achievement was building the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.

Solomon was not the oldest son of David but King David promised his wife, Bathshaba, that Solomon would be the next king of Israel.
