| − | Abraham was the one who first created a sacred contract between him and God, also known as a covenant. This covenant was between God and the Israelites who were migrating with Abraham. Abraham's name actually used to be Abram, but was changed to Abraham once he created the covenant with God. This covenant stated that all men would be circumcised and all the land between Egypt and Mesopotamia would belong to them. Another rule of the covenant was that all people needed to worship the same single God, which was unusual at the time because most people worshiped many different gods in the form of idols.
