Although Mesopotamia was affected by war and the changing environment around them, the most detrimental cause of collapse was their irrigation techniques. The same reason that made farming possible in Mesopotamia, made it impossible. If irrigation water was left to evaporate in farm lands, it left behind mineral salts. Being poisonous to plants, these mineral salts make farming impossible, and also made the land affected permanently unusable. This ultimately led to famine and disease and finally the decline of the Mesopotamian kingdom.
