== Mound of Creation ==

According to the Sumerians, Eridu, often believed to be the world's first city, was the site of the mound of creation, the first land to rise above the sea when the Earth was created by their seven great gods.  They also believed that kings and politics came from here.  According to the Sumerian King List, the Kingship descended from heaven onto Eridu, where 2 kings supposedly ruled for a total of 64,800 years, before the city "fell" and the kingship was moved.
