The period of 3300 to 1950 BCE contained many advancements in technology and inventions that came with them.  First, in Canaan, the first walled towns were built.  These towns were not large, but had tough walls with bastions positioned at regular intervals.  Along with these defensive advancements, the potter's wheel became in more common use for artisans making tools, who also built metal weapons made primarily of copper, which marked the early bronze age.  Aftwerwards, from 2300 to 1950 BCE, most of the towns became abandoned, turning into nomadic small-scale farming as a lifestyle for their inhabitants.
