| − | Santiago comes across four people who all aid him. The first is a gypsy who interprets his dream and tells him to go to Egypt. Then he meets Melchizedek, the King of Salem, who tells him to journey to the pyramids. After Santiago is robbed, a merchant helps him and in a year Santiago is rich. The fourth person who helps him is the Englishmen, or the alchemist. The alchemist teaches Santiago a lot of valuable lessons.
