Irrigation was a major development in the Neolithic Revolution time period because it allowed water to be brought down from the hills and valleys to the cities. All of the irrigation systems were usually small, cut out paths where water could easily flow down without being pooled up or sucked in by the plants. Irrigation systems allowed cities to grow rapidly while having a healthy supply of water which was key to a growing city. The irrigation system was the main way people kept their plants watered. This also prevented people from having to go work on the plants every day.
